First, that there’s no need to spend a lot of time trying to create what’s already been invented. Marketing has been around for ages and there are no brand new, unheard of ways of conducting business.

There is, however, the art of imitation. You find the best in the business and you imitate their success. You pay attention to their work ethics, the methods they use to find leads and the way they interact with those they want as customers.

You learn to avoid the decoys. What are decoys in MLM network marketing? Decoys are anything that will cause you to veer off from your goal. Any activity or venture that saps your energy is a waste of your time.

Some duck hunters mess up the duck calls. They don’t spend time practicing it before they’re off hunting. They get out in the field, blow the call and when ducks don’t rush them by the hundreds, they blame the product. “Must be a faulty product. Didn’t give the results I wanted” they’ll say. A duck call is only as good as the hunter using it.

A network marketing product is only as profitable as the knowledge the marketer possesses to use the information they’ve been given. When you know your product inside and out and you begin to promote it, you’ll get better each time you add to your downline.

But the truth is, many people expect to make a call and get a commitment without any effort of learning the ropes. When they get a rejection, they decide to quit, figuring they’re not cut out for the business or that the business is just a scam.

That’s not the way it works. Not every prospective client hears you the first time you call.
You have to stay in the field. You have to keep calling because the people will come. Stick it out, imitate those who have proven what MLM network marketing success is all about and if you do, you’ll learn how to master the call to your own customers as well.

This means that you will receive updates from the user in question. Many times, they will return the favor.

Follow those who follow you. On Twitter, someone who follows your Tweets or updates is referred to as a follower. Whether you solicited followers online or gained a new reader through the grapevine, return the favor. Remember, not only can you send advisement though updates, but also through @replies. If someone sends you an update saying “Trying to list my auctions on eBay, I hope they sell,” direct them to your eBook that shares eBay tips for sellers.

Answer questions on Search.Twitter.com. As previously stated, you can use Search.Twitter.com to find your targeted market online. You can also market your product, service, blog, or website by sending @replies. If anyone asks a question that you can answer, send a reply.

The professor looked over the classroom full of young students and replied, “Let me tell you a story…”

There once were 5 families that lived in a rural valley where the soil was rich, the weather was harsh, and the best apples in the whole world grew wild.

One day at the first home the man of the house said, “My family is hungry. I know there’s an apple tree on the ridge. I’ll go and see if I can get some apples for my family.”

So, the man took a basket, hiked up the ridge until he arrived at the apple tree. He thought, “I’m tired. I will set my basket under the tree and take a nap. Perhaps when I wake up some apples will have fallen into my basket.” So, he set his basket under the tree and fell asleep. When he woke up he found one apple in his basket, which he took home to his family.

He did this day after day, but one apple was not nearly enough to feed his family so they grew hungrier and weaker each day.

At the second home the woman of the house said, “My family is hungry. I know there is an apple tree by the river that looks healthy. I’ll go and see if I can get some apples for my family.”

So, the woman took a basket and a picking stick and walked to the apple tree by the river. She pulled out her picking stick to pluck apples from the tree, but while the tree had seemed health from a distance there were only a few apples on it. (In some versions of the story the tree is full of apples but they are all very high in the tree.) She jumped and reached as high as she could with her stick, but she only got 2 apples, which she took home to her family.

She did this day after day, but 2 apples were not nearly enough to feed her family so they grew hungrier and weaker each day.

At the third house, the man thought, “I know of many apple trees in the valley I will visit each one and see which one has the most apples I can reach with my picking stick.” So, he did. And while he saw some trees that were bigger, and other trees that had more apples, he settled on a small tree that had a good number of tasty apples, which he brought home to her family. They had enough to eat each day but no more.

At the fourth house, the woman thought, “I know of many apple trees in the valley. I too will visit each tree and taste an apple from each to see which one has the most edible apples I can reach with my stick.” So, she did. And while she saw some trees that were bigger, and other trees that had more apples, she too settled on a small tree that had a good number of tasty apples, which he brought home to her family. They had enough to eat that day.

After dinner she thought, “If I only had something to stand on, I could pick more apples in a taller tree.” So, she went to her workshop and made a small step ladder. The next day with the help of her ladder and her picking stick she was able to pick more apples from a slightly bigger tree. Her family had some extra apples they canned for the future.

Each night the woman would go into her workshop and add a little more to her ladder, and each day she was able to pick more and more good apples. After many months she was picking the best apples from one of the biggest tree in the valley and selling the extra apples to the other families in the valley.

At the fifth house the man did all of the things the woman of the fourth house did, but he also picked from many different trees and wrote down in his notebook how many apples he got from each tree each day. If he noticed a tree was bearing less fruit he might stop picking from it. If he noticed another tree had more good fruit at the top he would add to that tree’s ladder. After many months of this he was bringing home more apples than all the families in the valley could eat, so he started shipping extra boxes of apples to markets all around the world.

When he finished the story one of the students asked, “Professor, what does it mean?”

The professor replied, “The apple pickers represent website owners, the apple trees are keywords, and the apples – website visitors.”

The first apple picker who set his basket under the tree and took a nap is like the person who builds a website, doesn’t optimize it for search engines, and hopes people will just drop in.

The second apple picker who chose to pick apples from the tree that looked healthy only to find it had few apples is like the person who builds a website and optimizes the web pages for phrases she thinks will bring visitors. But she neglects to do any keywords research and ends up optimizing her site for phrases that aren’t searched much (or phrases which are out of reach for her site to compete for).

The third apple picker who looked at all the trees in the valley and chose the one with the most fruit he could reach is like the website owner who builds a site, does keyword research, and optimizes the site for good, relevant keywords that his site is able to compete for. They are not the most popular phrases in his field but with on-page optimization he is able to get his site into the top 10 search results and generate sales or leads.

The fourth apple picker who looked at all the trees, chose the one with the most fruit she could reach, and built a ladder in her workshop after dinner so she could get the apples from bigger tress is like the site owner who builds a site, does good keyword research, optimizes his site, and begins building links to her site. He not only receives good results early on, but her number of visitors and sales grow as the number of links to her site grows and she is able to compete for more competitive keywords (bigger trees).

Lastly, the fifth apple picker who looked at all the trees, built a ladder, and tallied the number of apples from each tree each day is like the website owner who does keyword research, on-page optimization of his site, link building, and tracks his search rankings with ranking reports and his website traffic with analytics. He is able to build a successful website that competes for the best search phrases and can adjust as his industry and search marketing trends change.”

From that day forward every student brought an apple for the wise, old professor each day they attended class.

People decide to open their own home business for many reasons. You may want to spend more time with your family, be your own boss, or make more money than a 9 to 5 job can offer. In a job that has you working for others, your entire work life and sometimes your home life is strictly scheduled for you. From the time you begin and end work, to breaks, vacation and pay, you have very little control.

However, in your own home business it can be hard to suddenly have complete control over everything and no one to lean on. Over time we gather habits, be they good or bad. When it comes to your home business, you have to figure out the bad ones and break yourself from doing them if you want to succeed.

Before you get the home business off the ground make sure that everything is in place. This means setting aside special hours in the day to do the most important activities. Remember that you will need to make contact with clients, banks and other businesses and most of this has to be done during the day and usually no later than 5pm. Prevent exhaustion by following the plans you laid out so that you don’t overwork yourself.

Business continues to move forward so you will have to constantly update yourself when new business ideals are put on the market. You can take classes or teach yourself over the internet, but stay ahead of the pack by knowing everything you can because it will help you to better develop your business.

A good way to break bad habits that can have adverse affects on your business is to write them down on paper whenever you discover a new one. Once you know the habits that are holding you back, you can implement different steps that can help you to overcome these habits.

For instance, smoking can be as bad for your business as it is for your health. If you smoke outside the home, you could lose valuable time by constantly stopping your work to run outside to have a cigarette.

Procrastination is by far one of the worst habits that can cause your business to crumble from the bottom up. If you constantly put off work and say that you’ll do it tomorrow, deadlines will pass and clients will choose other business owners that they can depend on. Once you lose customers it can be hard to seduce them back to using your company and services.

Your business is real, so treat it that way. If you don’t take it seriously, no one else will. However, this does not mean that you will have to bypass having a bit of fun every now and then. Taking a break to enjoy yourself will help you to stay fresh and on top of your business. If you work yourself too hard, you can quickly burn out and lose the enthusiasm you once had at the start of your home business.

Remember that this is a work at home business. You control the time and hours that you work. Realize that there may have been activities that you would have loved to do in the past but your 9 to 5 job was holding you back. Now that you don’t have those worries anymore, set aside some time to enjoy those activities. Your business is done at home but that does not mean that you have to be glued to your computer chair for the entire day.

Electronic equipment such as cell phones, text messengers and PDA’s will do a lot to make your business mobile. Try to separate business from pleasure and avoid pulling out your Blackberry every other minute to check an email when your spending time with the family, but do check daily if your away from home just to make sure that you catch any important messages that were left by clients.

This is partly due to the fact that very few people are usually seeking out your small mini site that is designed to presell a product.

Once of the best ways to get around this constant uphill struggle is to leverage other people and their hard work.

This is done by jumping on the bandwagon of new products and services, and on the general gravy train of well known brands and people. Here’s a few ways to do that…

1. When a new product is launched online, there will always be a period of huge search volumes. These searches come from people using all sorts of keywords to find the products and does their buyer research before handing over their cash.

As an affiliate, this is a great opportunity to get in front of these people as the new products are released to the market, and this works particularly well as keywords relating to new products have less competition in the search engines (making it easier for you as an affiliate to get found).

2. Secondly, you can siphon money off other successful marketers indirectly. This is done by looking at how they are making money and modeling their system.

For example, you could monitor a set of PPC adverts for a specific set of keywords. You would see over a period of time if these people continue to advertise with these keywords and if they do, you can be pretty sure that they are making a profit from their system.

All you need to do is examine how they are making money and model your own business around a similar process (do not copy other people’s work however, as this could land you in court).

3. Post comments and add content to big sites. Spreading your content around the web is one of the most effective ways to get more traffic, but to truly take advantage of the success of others, your aim to get your content found on the big traffic sites where your target audience hangs out.

This is really easy and there’s plenty of ways to do this…

- Join some forums and leave your website link in your signature box, then start making some useful posts.

- Add comments on social sites such as Myspace, Youtube or Yahoo Answers.

- Or post comments on high traffic, on topic blogs in your niche.

- Or better still, create some high quality content that is totally exclusive and original, then offer that content to a big player in your market for them to post on their website or blog (in exchange for a link back to your website).

As you can see, with so many websites popping up daily allowing you to add your own content (and links) to, there’s an increasing amount of opportunities to get traffic to your website. The key is to get in front of the right people. Do this by leveraging the big players in the same market as you and getting your links seen by THEIR visitors.

If you make the effort with just a few of these techniques, you’ll soon be piggybacking the rich and start seeing your own affiliate cheques rolling in.

Smart Marketing With An Affiliate Program

Just how hard can it be to put up a squeeze page, a pre-sales page, and start making money on affiliate products? When you look at all the people on the internet today that are making money it doesnt seem it would be all that hard.

The thing is, when you ask people that are making money online nearly every one of them give you a story about working for months or even a couple of years before they figured out how to make money as an affiliate. Do you want to start your affiliate career like that?

Most people dont. They want to invest a little money and time to start making money as an affiliate marketer in a month or less. Can you blame them?

No you cant. When I started trying to market on the internet I took advice from the wrong people, spend several thousand dollars and made zilch over a six month period.

Then by accident I actually found one of the secrets to making money in affiliate marketing.

What did I find?

It is really simple but has several steps.

1 – Select a niche you know about and enjoy. 2 – select multiple products from that niche to promote. 3 – Research your keywords for the niche and the products. 4 – Make sure the product gives the value it advertises. 5 – Setup a squeeze page and a complementary free gift. 6 – Create your email sequence to promote to those that dont buy. 7 – Create a pre-sales page that puts people in the mood to buy. 8 – Start promoting the products you have selected.

Think of it this way. Lets say you select 10 products from a niche you know and enjoy. You setup your squeeze pages and pre-sales pages then start sending traffic to them. You have 10 products so if you make $300 a month from each that is $3,000 a month profits.

Do you believe you can sale 10 items a month that makes you $30 each sale or 20 that makes you $15 each sale? Do you think you can duplicate this sequence of events 10 times?

You can and there is a very easy way to do it. It is called Smart Money Websites. You have a dashboard that you use to track your adds, the percentage of opt-ins and the percentage of click throughs to your affiliate pages.
